Haryana Jhajjars soldier martyred in Doda accident in Jammu and Kashmir, village mourns loss

PTC Web Desk: An Indian Army soldier from Haryana’s Jhajjar district was among the 10 jawans who lost their lives after an Army vehicle plunged into a deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Thursday. The martyred soldier has been identified as Mohit, a 25-year-old resident of Gijarod village in Jhajjar. According to officials, the Army vehicle fell nearly 400 feet into a gorge, leaving 10 soldiers dead, while 11 others were critically injured and later airlifted to the military hospital in Udhampur for treatment.
The news of Mohit’s martyrdom reached his family late Thursday evening, plunging his native village into grief. Residents gathered at his home to console the family, as mourning spread across the village.
Mohit had joined the Indian Army five years ago as a sepoy. He was married in November 2024 and had recently visited his home on a 10–15 day leave around the time of his wedding anniversary. He is survived by his parents and a brother. His father is a farmer, while his younger brother earns a living by driving a vehicle. Mohit did not have any children.
According to family members, the mortal remains of the soldier are expected to reach his native village around 2 pm on Friday. The last rites will be performed with full military honours. The district administration is also expected to be present to pay tribute to the brave soldier who laid down his life in the line of duty.
