Junior hockey coach arrested for sexually assaulting and impregnating minor in Haryanas Rewari
According to the complaint, the girl, a class 12 student who is a hockey player alleged that the coach whom she had known for nearly three years, sexually assaulted her in a bathroom at the stadium where she trained.
PTC News Desk: Days after national level shooting coach Ankush Bhardwaj was booked on sexual assault charges, a junior hockey coach has been accused of allegedly raping and impregnating a minor girl, according to the police.
Acting swiftly, the police arrested the accused and produced him before a Rewari court, which remanded him to two-day police custody. “The identity of the accused has been kept confidential in accordance with the directions of the court,” said police spokesperson Raj Kumar.
According to the complaint, the girl, a class 12 student who is a hocky player alleged that the coach whom she had known for nearly three years, sexually assaulted her in a bathroom at the stadium where she trained.
The survivor later revealed that she got pregnant and suffered a miscarriage on January 5. Her family rushed her to a hospital after her health condition worsened.
“Following that, I got pregnant. The child was aborted on January 5, after which my condition deteriorated and my family got me admitted to a hospital,” she stated.
Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under the POCSO Act and apprehended the junior coach.
"We have arrested the accused junior coach. After producing him in a city court we have taken him on two days of police remand and are questioning him," Rewari police spokesperson said on Saturday.
Earlier on January 8, the National Rifles Association of India (NRAI) suspended national coach Ankush Bharadwaj after being accused by a minor shooter. NRAI has confirmed the development, even as an FIR has also been filed against Bharadwaj in Faridabad.
