PTC News Desk: A man from Kashmir was detained after he attmpted to offer namaz inside the Ram Mandir complex in Ayodhya and retorted with sloganeering when stopped, triggering concerns.

The individual has been identified as Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Shopian district in Kashmir.

Security staff noticed the man’s suspicious behaviour and quickly stopped him. He was detained by the temple’s security personnel and later handed over to the local police for questioning. Some sources claimed he shouted slogans when he was stopped, but this has not been officially confirmed. Police and intelligence officials are interrogating him to understand his intentions.

They are also checking his travel details — why he came to Ayodhya and whether anyone else might be involved. During an initial search, police reportedly found items like cashews and raisins with him. The man is said to have told investigators that he was on his way to Ajmer.

Senior police officers and intelligence agencies are reviewing the security measures at the Ram Mandir complex following the incident. So far, both the district administration and the Ram Temple Trust have not issued any statement.

The incident has occurred at a time when Ayodhya is preparing for large Makar Sankranti crowds next week, leading to tighter security across the city. It also comes just before the second anniversary of the Ram Temple’s consecration on January 22.
