Eight Tamil Nadu students were killed after their car crashed into a parked lorry on NH-66 in Kerala’s Thrissur district late Friday night
PTC Web Desk: Eight students from Tamil Nadu were killed in a horrific road accident in Kerala’s Thrissur district late Friday night after the car they were travelling in rammed into a lorry parked along National Highway-66, the police said.
The accident took place at around 11.40 pm in Kaipamangalam. According to preliminary information, all eight occupants of the car died at the scene.

The police said the car, bearing a Tamil Nadu registration number, was travelling from Guruvayur towards Kodungallur when it collided with the parked lorry. The lorry was reportedly stationed near a diversion on an under-construction section of NH-66.
CCTV footage from the area showed the car travelling at high speed on what appeared to be a relatively empty stretch of the highway. The lorry was outside the camera’s view, but a cloud of dust could be seen rising moments after the crash.
Victims were engineering students
Preliminary information indicated that the eight victims were students of PSM Engineering College in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu.
The impact was so severe that the car was badly mangled. Rescue teams had to cut open the vehicle to remove the occupants.
Local residents, police personnel and fire and rescue teams joined the emergency operation following the crash.
Bodies sent to Thrissur Medical College
The bodies of the victims were shifted to the mortuary at Thrissur Medical College, the police said. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident, including the speed of the car and the conditions at the highway diversion where the lorry had been parked.
