Pune Lohgarh murder case: How remaining offline for 640 minutes moved suspicion finger on Chetan
Police say Chetan Chaudhary's 640-minute offline period became a key clue in the Ketan Agarwal murder case and probe also found over 2,000 calls with Siya Goyal
Pune Lohgarh murder case: How remaining offline moved suspicion finger on Chetan Chaudhary has emerged as one of the biggest developments in the investigation into the murder of Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal. The police say Chetan Chaudhary deliberately stayed off Internet for nearly 640 minutes on the day of the crime, which eventually raised suspicion against him.
Investigators believe Chetan switched off Internet on his mobile phone around 7 am on June 18 and remained offline until nearly 5.40 pm. According to the police, he left his own phone at his shop and carried an employee's phone during the day to avoid being tracked.
However, the move backfired. Instead of helping him escape suspicion, his long digital absence became a major clue. How remaining offline moved suspicion finger on Chetan became clear after investigators noticed the unusual pattern and began examining his activities.
Employee snswered calls
The police checked every incoming call made to Chetan's phone during the period he remained offline. They found that although the calls were answered, the callers never actually spoke to Chetan. Instead, employees at his shop answered the calls. Investigators later summoned one of the employees and recorded his statement as part of the investigation.
More than 2,000 calls between Siya and Chetan
The police have also analysed the call detail records (CDRs) of Chetan Chaudhary and co-accused Siya Goyal. According to investigators, the two spoke over the phone 2,004 times between January 1 and June 18. Their conversations reportedly lasted a combined 238 hours, averaging around eight to ten calls every day.
The police also found that the two continued communicating even after Ketan Agarwal's death. The recovered chats and call records are being examined as part of the conspiracy investigation.

Police suspect murder was planned
Siya Goyal and Ketan Agarwal got engaged in February and were scheduled to marry in November. The police suspect Siya was unwilling to continue with the marriage because she was allegedly in a relationship with Chetan. Investigators believe she did not want to break the engagement due to family and social pressure.
According to the police, the two allegedly planned Ketan's murder and chose Lohagad Fort as the location. Investigators also claim they searched online for different ways to commit the crime before carrying out the alleged plan.
Ketan Agarwal's family said Siya's behaviour after the incident raised doubts. According to Ketan's father, Vishal Agarwal, while the family was in deep shock, Siya appeared unusually calm. He also claimed she was speaking with police officials at the accident site and asking about the investigation process, which the family found suspicious.
On the other hand, Chetan Chaudhary's father has denied the allegations against his son. He claimed Chetan was staying away from Siya and Ketan during the trek and alleged that his son was being falsely implicated. He maintained that Siya and Chetan were only friends and accused her of naming Chetan to protect herself.
During questioning, Siya reportedly told the police that she had informed Ketan she did not wish to marry him and had asked him to end the relationship. However, the police are still verifying her claims.
The investigation is continuing, with police analysing digital evidence, call records and statements to determine the full sequence of events behind Ketan Agarwal's death.
