PTC Web Desk:  A 25-year-old youth was allegedly beaten and shot dead by a group of armed men in Ludhiana late Friday evening. The victim had gone to drop off his friend’s Activa when he was reportedly surrounded by five to six men. The attackers allegedly assaulted him first and then opened fire. The victim, identified as Harjinder Singh, sustained five bullet injuries and died at the spot.

CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced. The footage shows the attackers assaulting the youth, while the sound of gunshots can be heard moments later.

Youth went to drop off friend’s Activa

According to preliminary information, the incident took place at around 11:30 pm in the Subhash Nagar and Sunder Nagar areas of Ludhiana. Harjinder Singh had gone to leave his friend’s Activa at his place. He was reportedly alone when a car carrying around five to six people arrived at the location.

The group allegedly surrounded him and began assaulting him. The situation quickly turned violent before the attackers opened fire.

Five bullets fired at Harjinder Singh

The assailants allegedly fired around five shots at Harjinder Singh. He suffered critical injuries and died at the scene. The CCTV footage reportedly captures the physical assault. The attackers can be seen surrounding and beating the victim, followed by the sound of firing.

The footage is now being examined by the police as part of the investigation.

Victim was sole warning member of family

Harjinder Singh was reportedly the only earning member of his family. His father works as an auto-rickshaw driver, while his mother is a homemaker.

His death has left the family devastated. The police are also trying to establish the motive behind the killing and determine whether the victim had any previous dispute with the attackers. Police teams reached the spot after receiving information about the shooting and started investigating the case.

Officials said multiple teams have been formed considering the seriousness of the incident. CCTV cameras installed in and around the area are being checked to identify the accused and trace the vehicle used by them.

The police are currently working to establish the identities of all those involved in the attack. Further details are awaited.
