Girl marries dead body of lover after honour killing in Nanded, says will live at his house; family booked for murder
“My father and brothers should be hanged. They lost, but our love won even after his death,” says the girl
PTC Web Desk: In a chilling case that has triggered nationwide outrage, a 21-year-old woman from Maharashtra’s Nanded district performed a symbolic wedding with her murdered boyfriend, using his blood as vermillion moments after he was allegedly killed by her family over caste differences. Aanchal Mamidwar, speaking to the media in tears, claimed that her father and brothers brutally murdered her boyfriend, 20-year-old Saksham Tate, because he belonged to a Scheduled Caste.
“My family killed him. I applied sindoor with his blood because I wanted to marry him one last time. Our love will remain eternal,” she said.
According to Aanchal, her relationship with Saksham spanned three years, but her family opposed their union from the beginning. She alleged that her family had repeatedly threatened Saksham and had even pressured him to convert to Hinduism to gain acceptance.
“They were only waiting for a chance to kill him,” she said. She further claimed that earlier on the same day her brother tried to coerce her into filing a false police complaint against Saksham. When she refused, the situation escalated.
In a shocking allegation, Aanchal said when her brother visited the police station, officials reportedly told him, “Instead of registering fake cases, you should kill him first.” Police officials have not confirmed this claim but stated that the comment is being investigated.
Preliminary investigation suggests that Saksham was standing with friends in the Old Ganj area of Nanded on Thursday evening when Aanchal’s brother, Himesh Mamidwar, confronted him.
The police say a fight broke out between the two. Himesh allegedly fired a gunshot that pierced Saksham’s ribs. He then struck Saksham’s head with a tile or stone, killing him on the spot.
Himesh, his brother Sahil and their father Gajanan Mamidwar were arrested soon after. Six accused in total have been booked under charges of murder, rioting, the Arms Act and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
When Saksham’s family was preparing for his cremation, Aanchal arrived at his home, visibly devastated. Videos from the scene, now viral on social media, show her applying turmeric to Saksham’s body and placing vermillion on her forehead, which she claimed was mixed with his blood.
She publicly declared her wish to stay with the Tate family as their daughter-in-law and demanded strict punishment for her own father and brothers.
“My father and brothers should be hanged. They lost ,but our love won even after his death,” she said.
