Bengal horror: Man kills wife, walks around with her severed head in East Midnapore

Bengal horror: Violence against daughter and women’s of the nation is increasing with the each passing day which has become the serious and deeply concerning issue nationwide. The violence against women can take place in various forms including physical, emotional, and economic abuse. 

An uptick in such cases is a serious issue for society and is also raising questions on the law-and-order situation in the nation.

In the recent horrific, shocking and unsettling incident, a 40-year-old man identified as Goutam Guchhait was seen walking around a bus stop holding his wife's severed head in one hand and a sickle in the other. Covered in blood, he made vague and threatening remarks to the gathered crowd. 

The spine-chilling incident unfolded in the Patashpur area of the East Midnapore district on the festive day of Valentine’s and Basant Panchami when people were celebrating the day of love and Saraswati Puja across the nation. 

According to the sources, Goutam Guchhait committed the gruesome act due to family-related issues before appearing at the bus stop. The incident came to the limelight when locals captured the chilling scene on mobile phones. 

The police arrived at the scene more than an hour later and discovered the body of Goutam Guchhait's wife, Fulrani Guchhait.

Goutam was arrested and Fulrani body’s was subsequently sent for post-mortem examination. Meanwhile, Goutam parents had asserted that he suffered from mental instability.
