Mumbai bus accident: Four killed, several injured as BEST bus mows down pedestrians
Preliminary reports suggest that a bus belonging to the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking collided with pedestrians while it was reversing.
PTC News Desk: At least four people were killed and several injured after a BEST bus crashed into pedestrians on Monday. The incident happened in Mumbai's Bhandup around 10 pm, officials said.
The injured people were immediately rushed to the hospital. Three women and one man were among the dead, while one woman and eight men received injuries in the incident.

Soon after the accident, heavy police force was deployed at the scene to control the situation and regulate traffic in the area.
At the time of the accident, Santosh Ramesh Sawant (52), a BEST staff driver, was driving the bus, while Bhagwan Bhau Ghare (47) was on duty as the conductor.
The authorities have launched investigation into the matter to ascertain the exact cause behind the accident including whether mechanical failure or other factors were involved.
