Pahalgam attack anniversary: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday remembered the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack on its first anniversary and showed support for their families. In a post on X, he said the victims “will never be forgotten” and called the April 22, 2025 attack a tragedy that still affects the whole country. He also said India will never bow down to terrorism.

"Remembering the innocent lives lost in the gruesome Pahalgam terror attack on this day last year. They will never be forgotten. My thoughts are also with the bereaved families as they cope with this loss," he said in a post on X.

"As a nation, we stand united in grief and resolve. India will never bow to any form of terror. The heinous designs of terrorists will never succeed," the Prime Minister added.

His statement came as the families of those killed are still dealing with their loss. On April 22 last year, terrorists shot dead 26 people, most of them tourists, in Pahalgam in south Kashmir, which led to anger across the country.

In response, India launched a military operation called Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Around the same time as the Prime Minister’s post, the Indian Army said on X that any attack on India will get a strong response and justice will always be done.

Reports said the terrorists separated people based on religion before shooting them in front of their families, which caused widespread outrage.

During Operation Sindoor, nine major terror camps linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen were destroyed, and over 100 terrorists were killed.
