PTC News Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated two new corridors of the Delhi Metro, including the country’s first fully operational ‘Ring Metro’, marking a significant milestone in the expansion of the capital’s public transport network.

One of the newly opened corridors, the Majlis Park–Maujpur-Babarpur section of the Pink Line, stretches about 12.3 km and includes eight elevated stations. This stretch forms part of the already operational Majlis Park–Shiv Vihar corridor. With the addition of this segment, the Pink Line has expanded to approximately 71.56 km, making it India’s first complete Ring Metro.

Stations along this corridor include Majlis Park, Burari, Jharoda Majra, Jagatpur-Wazirabad, Soorghat, Nanaksar-Sonia Vihar, Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura, Yamuna Vihar and Maujpur-Babarpur. The project also features a new bridge over the Yamuna River and a double-decker viaduct that carries both a metro line and a road flyover, enhancing transport connectivity in the region.

The second corridor, connecting Deepali Chowk and Majlis Park, is an elevated extension of the Botanical Garden–Krishna Park Extension Magenta Line and spans around 9.9 km. It includes seven stations: Deepali Chowk, Madhuban Chowk, Uttar Pitampura-Prashant Vihar, Haiderpur Village, Haiderpur Badli Mor, Bhalswa and Majlis Park. With this extension, the Magenta Line now measures around 49 km in total. Parts of this corridor rise to nearly 28.36 metres, making it one of the highest elevated sections in the Delhi Metro network.

During the event, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for three additional metro corridors under Phase-V (A) of the Delhi Metro expansion plan. These include the Central Vista corridor, which will run from Ramakrishna Ashram Marg to Indraprastha. The 9.913 km corridor will be built underground and will include stations such as Shivaji Stadium, Central Secretariat, India Gate, War Memorial-High Court, Baroda House, Bharat Mandapam and Indraprastha. The project is expected to improve connectivity to major government and cultural landmarks in central Delhi.

Two extensions of the Golden Line were also announced — one from Aerocity to Indira Gandhi Domestic Airport Terminal-1 and another from Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj. These new projects aim to further strengthen the metro network and make commuting easier for residents of the national capital.
