PM Narendra Modi emerges most popular global leader in survey, leaves Biden behind

New Delhi, February 4: The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has emerged as the world's most popular leader with an approval rating of 78 percent, according to a US-based consulting firm 'Morning Consult.'

According to the ratings, PM Modi outperformed other world leaders such as US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. For the ratings, the poll surveyed 22 global leaders. According to the Political Intelligence research firm, the "Global Leader Approval" survey is based on data collected from January 26 to 31, this year, and is based on a seven-day moving average of adult residents in each country, with sample sizes varying by country.

PM Modi received 78% approval ratings, far outperforming US President Joe Biden, who received 40%. Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador came in second with 68% approval, and Swiss President Alain Berset came in third with 62% approval rating.

Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, 2022 has been a remarkable year in the history of India's foreign policy. His advice to Russian President Vladimir Putin that "this is not an era of war" found echo around the world.

The war between Russia and Ukraine has pushed the world to the brink of World War III, with every country choosing sides. PM Modi, on the other hand, put his faith in the UN and chose the side of peace, urging both countries to solve the problem through "dialogue and diplomacy."

On the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in September, Prime Minister Modi stated, "Now is not the time for war," a statement welcomed by the United States and other Western countries.

In a multipolar world, India appears to be avoiding great-power competition and forging its own nonaligned path.

According to data shared on the website of the US-tracking firm, 78% of people approve of PM Modi, while 18% disapprove. PM Modi's approval rating has recently risen, reaching 79% in the third week of January.

The list is updated on a regular basis, with US President Joe Biden currently ranked seventh. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store, South Korean President Yoon Seok-youl, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida were among the last three on the list of 22.
