Rajasthan: Mans body found stuffed in blue drum on rooftop; wife, kids and landlord’s son missing
Hansram had rented the rooftop accommodation about one and a half months ago and was employed at a brick kiln
PTC Web Desk: A shocking murder has surfaced in Rajasthan’s Khairthal Tijara district, where a man’s body was found stuffed inside a drum on a rooftop, bearing injuries from a sharp weapon. The police identified the deceased as Hansram, alias Suraj, a native of Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh, who had been living with his wife and three children in Adarsh Colony, Kishangarhbas.
According to DSP Rajendra Singh Nirwan, the body bore a deep throat injury, and salt had been sprinkled over it to speed up decomposition. The gruesome discovery was made after neighbours complained of a foul smell emanating from the rooftop.
Hansram had rented the rooftop accommodation about one and a half months ago and was employed at a brick kiln. The police said that since Saturday, his wife Sunita, their children, and the landlord’s son Jitendra have been missing.
“The deceased was addicted to liquor and often drank with Jitendra. Since Saturday evening, both Jitendra and Hansram’s family members have been untraceable,” DSP Nirwan said.
The police have launched a manhunt for the missing persons, while the body has been sent for post-mortem. A case has been registered, though officials admit it remains unclear how long the body had been inside the drum or the motive behind the crime.
Similar drum murder cases in recent months
The discovery has drawn parallels with previous drum murder cases that shocked the country earlier this year:
Meerut, Uttar Pradesh (March 2025): A man was allegedly killed by his wife and her lover, chopped into pieces, and hidden inside a drum before being buried under wet cement. The crime came to light when the couple’s daughter repeatedly told neighbours, “Papa drum mein hain” (“Papa is in the drum”).
Ludhiana, Punjab (June 2025): Rag pickers found a blue drum in Sherpur area containing the body of an unidentified man. His limbs had been tied with rope, wrapped in a bedsheet, placed inside a plastic sack, and then stuffed into the drum. The police were alerted after the drum was spotted in a vacant plot.
