Republic Day 2026: Punjabs tableau to honour Guru Tegh Bahadur Jis martyrdom
The spokesperson noted that their sacrifice embodies the highest values of humanity inspired by Guru Tegh Bahadur’s teachings.
PTC News Desk: The Punjab government will showcase a special tableau honouring the martyrdom of the ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, during the Republic Day parade on Kartavya Path on January 26, 2026. The display highlights Sikh ideals of spirituality, compassion, humanity, and selfless sacrifice.
According to an official spokesperson, the tableau has been designed in two sections. The front segment features a symbolic hand, representing spiritual strength and a compassionate, humanitarian outlook. It also includes a rotating ‘Ek Onkar’ (God is One) emblem and a cloth inscribed with ‘Hind di chadar’, symbolising protection for those oppressed. The rear section depicts Raagi Singhs performing ‘Shabad Kirtan’, with a ‘Khanda Sahib’ monument in the backdrop, creating a sacred and uplifting atmosphere.
This scene reflects the daily kirtan held at the chowk outside Gurudwara Sri Sis Ganj Sahib in Delhi. The edges of the trailer display an image of the Gurudwara, the holy site of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom.
The side panels portray the supreme sacrifices of Bhai Mati Dass, Bhai Sati Dass, and Bhai Dyala, who laid down their lives to uphold truth and faith. The spokesperson noted that their sacrifice embodies the highest values of humanity inspired by Guru Tegh Bahadur’s teachings.
Recently, the Punjab government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann marked the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur at Sri Anandpur Sahib from November 23 to 29, with religious programmes conducted with deep reverence.
