Woman, lover arrested for husband’s murder a month after heart attack claim

PTC Web Desk:  A death that was initially believed to be due to a heart attack in Karnataka’s Tumakuru district has now turned into a suspected murder case, with the police arresting the deceased man’s wife and her alleged lover more than a month after the incident.

The deceased, identified as Paramesh, was found dead on January 30. At the time, his wife Asha informed relatives that he had suffered a heart attack. The family performed the last rites soon after, as there were no immediate doubts about the circumstances of his death.

However, suspicion arose when Asha married her friend Chandrappa just 20 days after Paramesh’s death. The swift remarriage shocked the victim’s family, particularly his sisters, who began to question the events surrounding his sudden demise.

They later approached the police and lodged a complaint with the Hebbur Police Station, alleging that Paramesh’s death might not have been natural.

Acting on the complaint, the police ordered the exhumation of the body in the presence of local revenue officials, including the Tahsildar. A fresh post-mortem examination was conducted and samples were preserved for forensic analysis.

During the investigation, the police questioned both Asha and Chandrappa about the night of Paramesh’s death. According to investigators, the two eventually admitted to their involvement in the crime.

The police said the accused allegedly suffocated Paramesh with a pillow and later tried to make it appear as if he had died of a heart attack.

Both Asha and Chandrappa have been taken into custody by Hebbur police, and further investigation is ongoing to establish the full sequence of events and motive behind the killing.
