Satish Golcha appointed new Delhi Police Commissioner after CM Rekha Gupta attack

A 1992-batch IPS officer, Golcha takes over from SBK Singh, who had been holding additional charge as Commissioner since July 31 following the retirement of Sanjay Arora

PTC Web Desk: Senior IPS officer Satish Golcha was appointed as the 26th Commissioner of Delhi Police on Thursday, just a day after the attack on Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The announcement came through an official order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

A 1992-batch IPS officer, Golcha takes over from SBK Singh, who had been holding additional charge as Commissioner since July 31 following the retirement of Sanjay Arora. Until now, Golcha was serving as the Director General of Tihar Jail, a position he assumed on May 1, 2024.

During his career, the senior officer has held several key posts, including Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Special Commissioner (Intelligence) in Delhi Police, and Director General of Police (DGP) in Arunachal Pradesh. He has also worked as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and Joint Commissioner of Police (Joint CP) in Delhi Police, gaining extensive experience in law enforcement and intelligence operations.
