Surat horror: Man kills wife, hides body in cement-filled crate, files missing person report to mislead police
In a chilling Surat murder case, a man allegedly killed his wife, hid her body in a cement-filled crate at an abandoned house and filed a missing person complaint to divert police attention
PTC Web Desk: A shocking case of suspected murder and cover-up has surfaced in Gujarat’s Surat, where a man is accused of killing his wife, concealing her body in a wooden crate covered with cement and later attempting to mislead the police by filing a missing person report.
The accused has been identified as 40-year-old Vishal Salvi. He approached the police claiming that his wife, Shilpa Salvi (39), a dietician, had been missing for four days. Acting on his complaint, the police began a routine search. However, the investigation soon took an unexpected turn.
A handwritten confession-like note found at the couple’s residence proved crucial. Found by their minor son and handed over to the police, the note, allegedly written by Vishal, contained a message indicating he had committed a serious wrongdoing and that his wife was no longer alive. This prompted the police to treat the case as a possible homicide.
During the probe, investigators traced an abandoned property linked to the accused within the Salabatpura police station area. When officers forced entry into the locked premises, they noticed a strong foul smell coming from a wooden crate placed inside. Upon opening it, they recovered a decomposed body believed to be that of Shilpa. The remains had reportedly been hidden using raw cement.
Preliminary findings suggest the crime may have occurred several days before the missing complaint was filed. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, while forensic teams are working to establish the exact cause of death.
Police officials stated that the couple had been experiencing ongoing marital issues. Initial inputs indicate that the husband suspected his wife of having an extramarital relationship, which is being examined as a possible motive.
The accused is currently on the run. Multiple teams have been deployed to trace his whereabouts, with investigators analysing CCTV footage and gathering local intelligence to locate him.
