The ED has arrested Sukriti Foods promoter Kailash Chand Mangla in the Tirupati Laddu ghee case, alleging adulterated ghee was supplied to TTD
PTC Web Desk: The Enforcement Directorate has arrested Sukriti Foods promoter Kailash Chand Mangla in connection with the money laundering investigation into the alleged adulteration of ghee used in preparing Tirupati Laddu prasadam.
The ED said Mangla was arrested by its Hyderabad office on September 17. He was subsequently produced before a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Visakhapatnam, which sent him to judicial custody.
According to the agency, its investigation found that ghee supplied to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) as Agmark Special Grade Cow Ghee was allegedly made using several vegetable oils and chemical substances.
The agency alleged that the products used in the manufacturing process included refined palm oil, palm kernel oil and palmolein. It also named chemicals such as MG-90, monoglycerides, Myvacet Soft 400 and acetic acid ester.
The ED said the alleged fraudulent supply of ghee to TTD between 2019 and 2024 was worth around Rs 230 crore. Of this, the agency alleged that Mangla was involved in manufacturing adulterated ghee valued at approximately Rs 96 crore.

ED alleges role in supply network
The agency has described Mangla as one of the alleged co-conspirators in the case. It claimed that he helped arrange adulterants and manufactured the allegedly adulterated ghee at his factory.
The ED further alleged that the product was supplied to TTD through several entities, including Sri Vyshnavi Dairy Specialities, Malganga Milk & Agro Products and A.R. Dairy Foods.
Investigators also accused Mangla of maintaining false records related to the purchase and sale of ghee and refined palm oil.
According to the ED, these records were allegedly created to hide the actual use of adulterants and make the supplies appear to be genuine cow ghee.
Another promoter already arrested
Mangla is the second promoter to be arrested by the ED in connection with the case. Earlier, the agency arrested Vipin Jain, promoter and director of Bhole Baba Organic Dairy Milk, over similar allegations.
The ED's investigation is continuing. The agency has alleged that adulterated products were supplied as cow ghee for use in preparing the famous Tirupati Laddu prasadam.
