PTC News Desk: Trouble seems to be mounting for Penguin Random House India after Delhi Police issued a notice to the publishing house over controversy surrounding the unpublished memoir of former Army Chief General MM Narvane.

The action follows the mounting controversy and claims over the status of the alleged circulation of the unauthorised versions of the memoir, bringing the publisher, the former army chief and senior political figures into a heated political dispute.

The controversy erupted over Four Stars of Destiny after Rahul Gandhi attempted to quote from it in the Lok Sabha to criticise the government, drawing strong objections from senior ministers.

According to police, the Special Cell has formally approached the publishing house through the notice, posing multiple queries and seeking detailed responses.

“Delhi Police Special Cell has issued a notice to Penguin India. Through the notice, several questions have been asked, and responses have been sought,” a senior police officer said.

Police said a case has been registered following dissemination of alleged unauthorised manuscript and that the matter is currently under investigation.

Earlier on Tuesday, former Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Narvane clarified that his memoir Four Stars of Destiny has not been released and that no official copies of the book are available anywhere.

The publisher said it holds exclusive rights to publish the memoir and confirmed that the book has not yet been printed, released, or sold in any form, including digital versions. It also warned that any copies currently being shared or circulated without permission are illegal and violate copyright laws.
