Union Cabinet okays Productivity Linked Bonus of Rs 1,866 cr for railway employees
Under the new decision, eligible railway workers can receive up to ₹17,951 for 78 days. Beneficiaries include track maintainers, locomotive pilots, train managers (guards), station masters, supervisors, technicians, helpers, pointsmen, ministerial staff, and other Group ‘C’ employees.
PTC News Desk: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) of ₹1,866 crore for railway employees, benefiting 10.91 lakh staff members in recognition of their work during the financial year.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the bonus equals 78 days of wages for 10,91,146 employees. The PLB, usually disbursed ahead of Durga Puja/Dussehra, was worth ₹2,029 crore for 11.72 lakh employees last year.
Under the new decision, eligible railway workers can receive up to ₹17,951 for 78 days. Beneficiaries include track maintainers, locomotive pilots, train managers (guards), station masters, supervisors, technicians, helpers, pointsmen, ministerial staff, and other Group ‘C’ employees.
Vaishnaw further highlighted a major infrastructure boost, announcing Cabinet approvals worth ₹94,000–95,000 crore across different sectors. “The Prime Minister has taken some very historic decisions. In today’s Cabinet meeting, projects worth nearly ₹95,000 crore were cleared.
For railways, the doubling of the Bakhtiyarpur–Rajgir–Tilaiya line was approved. Until now, it was a single line, restricting capacity. With doubling, the line’s capacity will expand significantly,” he said.
