PTC News Desk: Youth Congress workers who went shirtless and staged a protest at India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi were inspired by Nepal's violent Gen Z movement that toppled the government, said Delhi Police to court on Friday while seeking custody of the arrested Congress workers.

“This is a larger conspiracy that has taken inspiration from the Gen Z protests in Nepal. The accused need to be confronted with each other as well as with digital evidence. This is a very important investigation,” the police told the court.

Police said a detailed investigation is needed into how the protesters were funded, including who paid for printing their T-shirts. The shirts had messages like “PM is compromised,” “India-US Trade Deal,” and “Epstein Files.”

On Friday, around 10 activists from the youth wing of the Indian National Congress entered the AI Summit venue and staged a shirtless protest. They raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including “PM is compromised” over the India-US trade deal. The protesters wore or carried matching white T-shirts printed with images of Modi and US President Donald Trump, along with the slogans.

Security officials quickly stepped in, and four protesters were later arrested for allegedly disrupting the major international event.

In court, the protesters’ lawyer rejected the police claims, saying the demonstration was peaceful and that the activists did not attack anyone. The lawyer instead alleged that the protesters were assaulted.

“There is no footage showing that they attacked any public servant. On the contrary, they were beaten black and blue. The sections imposed are an attempt to set an example for other political parties,” the advocate argued.
