Online Rummy Game: Kerala High Court issues notice to Virat Kohli and 2 others

The Kerala High Court on Wednesday issued a notice to Indian skipper captain Virat Kohli, actors Thammanna and Aju Vargheese on a petition seeking a ban on the online rummy game.

This comes as victims alleged that brand ambassadors play a significant role in the addiction of youth.

Virat Kohli, actors Thammanna and Aju Vargheese are brand ambassadors of the online rummy game and thus a notice has been issued against them.

The Kerala high court has also issued notice to the state government and asked for its response to the matter.

As per the report, the petitioner complained that several people lost their lives in India following a huge loss of money by playing the online game. The petitioner also stated that it should be banned.

Reportedly, a man identified as 27-year-old Vineeth committed suicide at Kuttichal in Thiruvananthapuram as he lost Rs 21 lakh.

Another man Sajesh who lost a huge amount of money playing online rummy said that the intervention of the High court was welcome as several people lost a lot of money playing this game and that he himself lost around Rs 6 lakh.

He said that the brand ambassadors play a big role in attracting the youth in playing this game which later turns into an addiction.
