{{{content}}}CJP Tiranga rally LIVE UPDATES: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is set to hold a rally called “Lehra Do Tiranga” at Central Park in Delhi’s Connaught Place on Friday at 5 pm. The party wants Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to resign. It also plans to protest the decision to send Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das to judicial custody.
Heavy security in the area
Delhi has made large security arrangements for the day. Around 6,000 police personnel and 22,000 Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) jawans have been deployed in and around Connaught Place. Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) is in force in these areas.
The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has also decided to keep Central Park closed to the public on October 16 and 17. The civic body has not given a clear reason for the closure.
Founder fears arrest
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke has said he may be arrested. At a press conference held at midnight on Thursday, he claimed that the Delhi Police could detain him either on Thursday night or by Friday morning.
Dipke also posted a few photos on X and alleged that plainclothes policemen were following him. There has been no response from Delhi Police on these claims so far.
“I want to tell Narendra Modi that we are not afraid of this. I am sitting right here, come and pick me up. If we have to go to jail for waving the Tricolour in this country, we are ready for that,” he said.
