After SGPC channel ban, YouTube removes channel of Fatehgarh Sahib Head Granthi Bhai Harpal Singh
In its statement, YouTube cited violations of its Violent Criminal Organisations Policy
PTC Web Desk: Days after YouTube suspended the official channel of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), the platform has now removed the YouTube channel of Bhai Harpal Singh, the Head Granthi of Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib.
In its statement, YouTube cited violations of its Violent Criminal Organisations Policy. According to the platform, any content created with the intention of praising, promoting or supporting violent extremist or criminal organisations is strictly prohibited.
“YouTube does not allow content intended to praise, promote, or assist violent extremist or criminal organisations," the notice stated. The platform further added that the reviewed content from Bhai Harpal Singh’s channel did not comply with the policy guidelines.
Responding to the suspension, Bhai Harpal Singh shared a statement on his Facebook page, expressing disappointment and concern. In his post, he wrote: “Those who speak of protecting rights are acting like Aurangzeb. You suppress the voice of truth like Aurangzeb and yet take pride in the sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji? Is the sacrifice of the protector of human rights being reduced to symbolism while actions resemble those of tyrants?”
The removal of religious content from Sikh platforms has sparked discussion among community members regarding censorship, freedom of expression and the interpretation of digital platform policies.
