Jalandhar IED blast: Security agencies arrest key accused in connection with explosion outside BSF headquarters
PTC News Desk: In a major breakthrough, security agencies have arrested the prime accused in connection with IED blast outside BSF headquarters in Jalandhar.
The accused has been identified as Anil Sharma, a resident of Uttar Pradesh. Security agencies are currently interrogating him and investigating whether a larger conspiracy angle is and who others are involved.
So far police have arrested 17 people in connection with the case.
An explosion outside Punjab Frontier Headquarters of the Border Security Force (BSF) in Jalandhar was reported last week. Hours later another blast rocked Amritsar similarly targeting defence establishment in the state.
Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav confirmed that improvised explosive device (IED) were used in the twin explosions.
Khalistan Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the attack following which the DGP said that no such outfit exixts in reality and it is mere proxy outfits created on the behest of ISI to carry out the attacks and project Punjab as disturbed state.
