Amritsar grenade attack: Punjab Police bust ISI-linked module, six arrested; weapons recovered
According to the police, preliminary investigation revealed that the entire module was supported by Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI and the accused were working on the directions of handler based abroad.
Amritsar grenade attack: In a significant breakthrough, Amritsar Rural Police in joint operation with Faridkot Police arrested six suspects in connection with grenade attack case at PS Bhindi Saida and recovered two pistols from them.
According to the police, preliminary investigation revealed that the entire module was supported by Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI and the accused were working on the directions of handler based abroad.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav shared the information on his social media and said that the accused were carrying out the terror activities on the instructions of a Pakistan-based handler, who was directing them from overseas.
The DGP further said that the group was planning attacks on police establishments across Punjab. On the night of March 29 and 30, 2026, the accused procured grenades, conducted reconnaissance of the area, and then carried out the attack on Bhindi Saida police station.
Police said the group had been influenced by extremist ideology and was lured with large sums of money to carry out such acts. After the incident, police took swift action, registered a case, and began an investigation. An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Explosives Act, UAPA, BNS, and the Arms Act.
Police officials said further investigation is underway to uncover the entire network behind the module.
