AAP leader Jaipal Singh Bau shot at in Amritsar, hospitalised
AAP leader attacked: An alleged firing incident in Punjab’s Amritsar left Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Ward No. 42 in-charge Jaipal Singh Bau injured on Thursday afternoon. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in the city, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
According to initial information, the incident reportedly stemmed from a personal rivalry linked to a dispute over vehicle parking with a neighbour. Sources said both sides allegedly opened fire during the altercation.
CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced, reportedly showing Jaipal Singh Bau and his neighbour firing at each other during the confrontation. The police have launched an investigation into the matter and are examining the footage as part of the probe.
Jaipal Singh Bau had earlier contested the Municipal Corporation elections from Ward No. 42 on an AAP ticket. Although he lost the election, he was later appointed as the party’s ward in-charge.
Punjab Cabinet minister and local MLA Inderbir Singh Nijjar visited the hospital to enquire about Bau’s condition.
“A firing incident has taken place in my constituency, and I came here to know about his health condition. I have spoken to the doctors. The injured person is Jaipal Singh, who had contested the councillor elections on an AAP ticket and is currently serving as ward in-charge,” Nijjar said.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
