Batala double murder: Two youths, out for walk, shot dead by unknown assailants, accused at large

No evidence of prior threats or extortion demands has emerged so far during the initial probe.

PTC News Desk: In another incident indicating deteriorating law and order situation in the state, three youths, out for a walk were fired upon indiscriminately by six unknown bike-borne assailants, leaving two of them dead and one critically injured. 


The incident unfolded in Bhoma village, which falls under Ghuman police station in Batala police district. 



The deceased have been identified as Kashmir Singh (40), son of Vassan Singh, and Jugraj Singh (18), both residents of Bhoma village.


The injured youth is also reported to be named Jugraj Singh. 


Soon after receiving the information, several teams of police officials reached the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem examination to Civil Hospital, Batala. 

Providing details, Batala SSP Dr. Mehtab Singh said that preliminary investigation revealed that unidentified attackers fired indiscriminately at three youths who were walking in Bhoma village. Two of them—Kashmir Singh and Jugraj Singh—died on the spot, while the third youth, Jugraj Singh, sustained serious bullet injuries.

He added that no evidence of prior threats or extortion demands has emerged so far during the initial probe. Multiple police teams have started the investigation, and CCTV footage from the area is being examined.
