Punjab’s 108 Ambulance Service handles 1.93 lakh emergencies in a year
PTC Web Desk: The 108 Ambulance Service, operated by Zenplus Private Limited, has handled 1,93,698 emergency cases across the state between April 2025 and March 2026.
Medical emergencies accounted for the highest share at 74,570 cases. The service also responded to 50,993 pregnancy-related calls. Besides, 26,908 road accident cases and 21,881 cardiac emergencies were attended. Another 19,346 cases fell under various other emergency categories. All responses were managed by trained Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) and skilled drivers.
Among districts, Ludhiana reported the highest number of cases at 26,429, followed by Jalandhar (16,809), Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (16,284), Amritsar (14,964) and Patiala (14,793). Hoshiarpur, Bathinda and Gurdaspur also recorded significant numbers, indicating strong coverage in both urban and rural areas.
Monthly data shows August recorded the highest number of emergencies at 18,837, followed by September (18,340) and July (18,186). Even in February, considered a lower-demand month, 14,084 cases were handled.
The service also assisted in 158 deliveries inside ambulances and reached over 31.7 lakh people during the year.
Project Head Manish Batra said the service remains focused on providing fast and reliable emergency care.
