Bus conductor dead; 12 injured as bus and truck collide head-on on Patiala’s Sirhind Road
Preliminary findings indicate that over speeding and an attempt to overtake may have led to the tragic mishap
PTC Web Desk: A tragic road accident on Sirhind Road in Patiala on Friday morning claimed one life and left 12 others injured after a PUNBUS bus and a truck collided head-on. According to the police, the accident took place when both vehicles were travelling at high speed. The impact was so severe that bus conductor Anmol Singh (45) died on the spot.
Six of the injured were rushed to Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, while the remaining were taken to Manipal Hospital, Patiala, for treatment. Sources said several passengers suffered serious head injuries, and the condition of one person remains critical.
Soon after receiving the information, police and rescue teams reached the accident site and began relief operations.
Gurnam Ghumman, SHO of Anaj Mandi Police Station, said the body of the conductor had been kept in the mortuary of Rajindra Hospital, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the crash.

The collision caused a massive traffic jam on Sirhind Road, which was later cleared with police assistance.
