Firing outside AAP leader Daljit Rajus house in Phagwara, extortion angle suspected

PTC News Desk: Panic gripped Darvesh village near Phagwara in the wee hours of Thursday after two unknown assailants opened fire outside residence of Aam Aadmi Party leader and Yudh Nasheya Virudh Phagwara Coordinator, Daljit Raju. More than dozen rounds of fire were opened before the attackers fled the spot. 


The incident occured 1:13 AM when Raju, his wife and his daughter were asleep on the first floor. Bullets shattered the glass railings and windows of the upper floor, fortunately the family escaped unhurt. 


The incident captured on CCTV showed two masked men arriving on a motorcycle approached the house on foot after parking the bike near the main gate of the village. One of the attackers was also seen throwing four pages inside Raju's premises carrying the threatening inscription ‘Kala Rana Group — 5 crore’, indicating a possible extortion demand.

A case has been registered  under Sections 308(5),61(2),324(4), 111 of BNS and 25-54-59 arms act at Satnampura Police Station. SSP Gaurav Toora said that multiple angles including etortion are being examined and efforts are underway to  identify the assailants.
