Jaswinder Bhallas last rites to be performed today in Mohali

Reportedly, Bhalla was brought to the Mohali hospital where he breathed his last on the morning of 22 August 22.

PTC News Desk: The mortal remains of Punjabi comedian Jaswinder Bhalla, who passed away yesterday, will be cremated today, August 23, at 1:00 PM at the Balongi cremation ground in Mohali. A large gathering is expected to attend the funeral.


Reportedly, Bhalla was brought to the Mohali hospital where he breathed his last on the morning of 22 August 22.


Born on May 4, 1960, in Doraha, Ludhiana, Bhalla was not only an entertainer but also an academic, serving as a professor while nurturing his passion for comedy. His journey began in 1988 with “Chhankata 88”, an audio release that became a cultural milestone, giving birth to unforgettable characters like Chacha Chatar Singh and Bhoondhu. From there, he went on to grace Punjabi cinema with memorable performances in films such as Dulla Bhatti, Carry On Jatta, Jatt and Juliet, Mr & Mrs 420, and Manje Bistre.


Beyond the screen, he was a humble human being, a true friend, and a mentor. His close friend Bal Mukund Sharma described their 40-year bond as that of brothers, a testament to the warmth and loyalty Bhalla carried in his personal life.
