PTC Web Desk: A retired Army officer, Colonel Gurjeet Singh (retd), was robbed at gunpoint while walking his dog in Aerocity Block-C on July 20. The armed assailants fled with his gold bracelet and Apple iPhone. The incident came to light after an FIR was officially registered on July 29, following a preliminary police investigation.

Colonel Singh, currently serving as in-charge of the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) in Fatehgarh Sahib, said the robbery took place around 6.30 pm when a black Honda City pulled up near him. A young man stepped out from the driver’s seat and inquired about the address of an immigration agent. While the officer was responding, the man suddenly brandished a pistol and demanded Singh's valuables.

Two other individuals, both turbaned and estimated to be around 25–26 years of age, remained inside the car. Fearing for his safety, Singh handed over his iPhone and gold bracelet. The robbers then sped away in the direction of Amity University.

Reacting promptly, Singh returned home and used his daughter’s iPhone to track the stolen device. The iPhone was later located abandoned in bushes roughly 2 km away from the crime scene.

According to the retired officer, the robbers’ vehicle had a partially concealed registration plate starting with “MH.” The remainder of the plate appeared to have been smeared with mud, likely in an attempt to avoid detection. He also noted that the dashboard of the car displayed two miniature flags of the United Kingdom.

Singh informed the police that the same vehicle had passed him once earlier around 6 pm, only to return 30 minutes later to execute the robbery. He further alleged that this same car was involved in a similar armed robbery on July 9 in nearby Block-D, where another resident, Hardeep Singh, was also targeted while walking his dog.

The IT City police have registered a case of robbery under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), in addition to Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act, relating to the illegal possession and use of firearms. The police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity in an effort to identify and apprehend the culprits. The potential link between the two robberies is also under active investigation.
