Chandigarh, September 28: In a surprising turn of events, Sukhpal Singh Khaira, a prominent leader of the Punjab Congress, was apprehended from his residence in Sector 5, Chandigarh on Thursday. The detention, shrouded in mystery and controversy, has yet to be officially addressed by the Punjab Police.

The dramatic scene unfolded as Khaira decided to broadcast the incident live on Facebook, offering a unique and unfiltered glimpse into the contentious events transpiring within the confines of his home. In the livestream, a heated confrontation between Khaira and the law enforcement officers involved in his detention was captured for the world to witness.

One of the police officials, identifying himself as DSP Achru Ram Sharma, attempted to explain the basis for Khaira's arrest. He disclosed that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) had been established to probe an old Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) case. Shockingly, this SIT claimed to have uncovered compelling evidence linking Khaira to drug smuggling activities.

In a vehement rebuttal, Khaira invoked the Supreme Court's intervention in the matter. He asserted that the highest judicial authority in the country had already quashed the NDPS case, seemingly challenging the legitimacy of the arrest. The exchange between Khaira and the police officers, led by SP Manpreet Singh, escalated into a protracted argument, with both parties passionately defending their positions.

Despite Khaira's impassioned protestations and claims of judicial exoneration, the police ultimately prevailed, placing him under arrest. Subsequently, he was transported to Jalalabad, the destination of his detainment.

During the altercation, Khaira was observed raising slogans in support of the Punjab government, chanting "Punjab Sarkar Zindabad" as a demonstration of his loyalty and allegiance to the state's administration.

The circumstances surrounding Sukhpal Singh Khaira's arrest remain shrouded in uncertainty, as both sides of the narrative vehemently assert their positions. As the legal and political ramifications of this incident unfold, it is likely to attract significant attention and scrutiny from various quarters.
