Punjab Police foil terror plot orchestrated by Pak-based BKI operative Harwinder Rinda

PTC News Desk: In a significant development, the Punjab police has foiled a terror attack plot in Punjab orchestrated by Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operatives based in Pakistan and allegedly backed by Pakistan’s ISI.


Based on the credible intelligence input, the Anti-Gangster Task Force teams thwarted the plot to carry out the attack and recovered large cache of weapons from a forest area in Gurdaspur. 


The preliminary investigation suggests that the cache of weapons were smuggled in India from Pakistan with the help of agencies.  Harwinder Rinda is believed to be the mastermind of the plot who planned to target multiple locations across Punjab. 



"In an intelligence-led operation, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (#AGTF) Punjab successfully foiled a major terror plot orchestrated by Harwinder Rinda, a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operative based in #Pakistan and backed by Pakistan’s ISI," Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav wrote on X.


"AGTF teams traced and recovered a large cache of terrorist hardware, including two AK-47 rifles with 16 live cartridges, two magazines, and two P-86 hand grenades from a forest area in #Gurdaspur, before it could reach Harwinder @ Rinda’s associates," he further added. 


An FIR under under the Explosives Act and the Arms Act has been registered at PS Purana Shala, Gurdaspur. Further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend Rinda’s operatives involved in the recovered weapon consignment.
