Chini Kubaheri murder case: Woman mastermind arrested in daylight killing of property dealer n Chandigarh Sec 9

Chini Kubaheri case: In a major breakthrough, the Chandigarh Police have arrested a woman identified as Amreen for allegedly masterminding the daylight murder of property dealer Chamanpreet Singh, also known as Chini Kubaheri, in Sector 9.

Amreen, a resident of Sector 35, was taken into custody by the Crime Branch team under the supervision of DSP Lakshya Pandey and Inspector Narendra Patial. Investigators revealed that the motive behind the killing was a financial dispute related to a property deal in New Chandigarh.

According to police findings, Amreen accused the victim of cheating her in a property transaction. She alleged that the property was sold to her at an inflated price and possession was never handed over, causing significant financial loss. Driven by this grievance, she allegedly planned the murder to settle scores.

The investigation further revealed that Amreen orchestrated the crime with the help of gangster Lucky Patial. A Mohali-based property dealer, Harshpreet Singh, acted as a middleman and facilitated communication between Amreen and the gangster through encrypted applications. Amreen had reportedly promised a substantial payment in exchange for carrying out the killing.

The case took a decisive turn on April 29, 2026, when the Crime Branch received a tip-off and set up a checkpoint near Satsang Bhawan in Maloya. Harshpreet Singh (27) was intercepted based on suspicious activity. During a search, the police recovered a foreign-made .45 bore pistol and two live cartridges from his possession.

During interrogation, it was revealed that the recovered weapon was registered in Amreen’s name, linking her directly to the case. Harshpreet’s disclosures helped investigators establish the contract killing angle, leading to intensified efforts to trace the entire network. A case under Sections 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act was registered against him.

The police said the killing was executed by shooters Ranjan alias Piyush Pahalwan and Pritam, who were arranged by the gangster. The accused were provided with weapons, a motorcycle for escape and financial support.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the shooters had conducted prior reconnaissance outside a gym on March 18. As soon as Chamanpreet Singh stepped out, they opened fire and fled the scene.

Further investigation is underway.
