PTC Web Desk:  A violent altercation between a group of youths in Sangrur’s Krishna Basti area near Patiala Gate escalated into a deadly attack, leaving a 15-year-old boy dead and his cousin critically injured.

Family alleges brutal assault with hammer

According to the victim’s family, the incident began with a minor disagreement between two youngsters in the neighbourhood. The situation quickly spiralled out of control when two men allegedly attacked Arshdeep with a hammer, inflicting fatal injuries.

The boy’s father said he was at work at his food stall near Sunami Gate when the incident took place. He claimed that the accused, who live nearby, had called his son outside and attacked him with sharp-edged weapons. Arshdeep died on the spot, while his nephew suffered injuries near the neck and was rushed to hospital.

The victim’s mother, in a state of shock, said her son had just returned home from work, freshened up and stepped out to deliver tea to his father. Shortly after, the family received a call informing them that his cousin had been injured. Repeated attempts to contact Arshdeep failed, and they later learned of the fatal attack.

The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident. Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused involved in the attack.
