Punjab: Sniffer dogs help locate illicit liquor under guidance of EO Harsimrat Grewal
Chandigarh, December 17: Keeping in view serious concern over illicit liquor and drug menace in Punjab, a special Pilot Project was conducted by Punjab Government on Saturday by taking the services of sniffer dogs and under the directions of Financial Commissioner Taxation Pb. and Excise Commissioner, Punjab.

A team was constituted under supervision of Joint Commissioner Excise, Punjab Sh. Naresh Dubey and Deputy Commissioner Patiala Zone ,Patiala Sh. Paramjit Singh lead by Sh. Naresh Dubey himself ,AC(X) Range West Ludhiana Dr. Harsimrat Kaur Grewal ,EO Sh. Amit Goyal & Sh. Dewan Chand to curb illegal distillation of liquor.
Searches were conducted in an area of about 25-30 km around Satluj river bank.
Moreover, searches were also conducted near villages like Gorsian ,Kot Umra ,Kul Gehna and other nearby villages near Hambran and Sidhwan Bet, Ludhiana.
The search operation was conducted with the help of sniffer dogs along with E.I's Karamjit Singh Cheema, Hardip Singh Bains, Rajan Sehgal Mandeep Singh, Harjinder Singh-2, Excise Police and supporting staff.
Sniffer dogs in search operation were trained by Punjab Canine Training Institute.
Meanwhile, first in the history of the department approximately 330000 litres of illicit liquor has been recovered from different villages and banks around Satluj River.

Moreover, 150 bottles of illicit liquor has also been recovered from the tubes.
