Timmy Chawla killing: Nakodar cloth merchants gunman Mandeep Singh succumbs to bullet injury
Nakodar, December 8: A day after the killing of Punjab Police protectee, Timmy Chawla (39), who was a cloth merchant, by unidentified persons, his gunman, identified as Mandeep Singh, also succumbed to bullet injury on Thursday.
This is the third killing of a police protectee in the past one month. Bhupinder Singh aka Timmy Chawla would run a garment shop in Royal Tower of Punjab's Nakodar town. The police said four assailants came on two-wheelers and opened firing at Timmy Chawla.
Locals took both Timmy and his gunman Mandeep Singh to a hospital, where the former was declared dead. However, Mandeep Singh succumbed to his injuries on Thursday.

Timmy had received an extortion call from a gangster named Inda on November 3. He was asked to pay Rs 30 lakh, failing which he would have to face dire consequences. Following thus, a case was registered and he was provided police protection.

Meanwhile, the Punjab DGP took to Twitter and said "Salute to martyr Ct. Mandeep Singh who has laid down his life in the line of duty. @PunjabPoliceInd will make the perpetrators pay and look after the martyr’s family. Chief Minister has announced Rs 2 crore ex-gratis and insurance payment. #ForceIsFamily"
