Woman found murdered inside Chandigarh’s Rose Garden washroom; had deep injuries on neck
The police sealed the washroom and shifted the body to the Sector 16 Civil Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination
PTC Web Desk: A 30-year-old woman was found brutally murdered inside the public washroom of Chandigarh’s Rose Garden in Sector 16 on Saturday afternoon. The victim, identified as Diksha, a resident of Sarangpur, was found lying in a pool of blood with deep injuries on her neck. A knife was recovered next to her body.
According to DSP Dalbir Singh, the police have confirmed the woman’s identity and initiated a full investigation. “A knife has been recovered from the scene. We are examining all angles and will arrest the accused soon,” he said.
Initial police findings suggest that the woman had been living separately from her husband for nearly a year due to marital disputes. Investigators believe she was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon, and her throat was slit. The police sealed the washroom and shifted the body to the Sector 16 Civil Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination. A purse found near the body contained identification cards and other items.
According to eyewitness accounts, a tourist woman entered the Rose Garden washroom and found a woman lying unconscious and bleeding heavily. Terrified, she rushed outside screaming for help and alerted traffic police officials stationed nearby.
They immediately reached the washroom and informed the control room. Soon after, a police team arrived and began the investigation.
A forensic team collected blood samples, the weapon, fingerprints and other crucial evidence from inside the washroom. The entire area has been sealed for examination. The police are also reviewing CCTV footage from cameras installed in and around Rose Garden to determine whether Diksha entered the park alone or accompanied by someone.
