PTC Web Desk:  Punjabi singer Yashinder Kaur, popularly known as Inder Kaur, who was allegedly abducted at gunpoint from Ludhiana nearly a week ago, has been found dead. Her body was recovered from the Neelo canal. Her family confirmed the identity. The body has been kept at the Civil Hospital in Samrala for a postmortem examination and further legal procedures.

According to police records, an FIR had already been registered on May 15 following a complaint filed by the singer’s brother, Jotinder Singh. In his statement, he accused Moga resident Sukhwinder Singh alias Sukha and his associate Karamjit Singh of kidnapping his sister.

Jotinder Singh told the police that Inder Kaur had left her home on the night of May 13 at around 8.30 pm in her Ford Figo car to buy groceries from the market. However, she did not return home, prompting the family to launch a search.

During the search, the family reportedly learned that the singer was acquainted with Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of Bhalur village in Moga district. The complainant alleged that Sukha wanted to marry his sister, but she had refused his proposal.

The family suspects that the accused, along with his accomplices, abducted the singer at gunpoint and later killed her over personal enmity linked to the rejected marriage proposal.

Jotinder Singh further alleged that the main accused fled to Canada after committing the crime. He claimed Sukha had recently arrived in Punjab from Canada before the incident took place.

Police officials said the investigation is ongoing and further action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.
