Jalandhar sacrilege case: A fresh sacrilege incident in Punjab has triggered widespread outrage after torn pages of Gutka Sahib were allegedly found scattered in Jalandhar’s Raja Garden area late Monday night.

The incident sparked anger among Sikh organisations and local residents, with members of the Sikh community and Nihang Singh groups gathering at the spot in large numbers soon after the matter came to light.

According to local residents, the holy scriptures were found lying on a street covered with mud, leading to allegations that unidentified anti-social elements deliberately attempted to disturb communal harmony.

Nihang Singh groups, along with local residents, raised slogans and called for the immediate arrest of the accused.

Expressing strong resentment over the incident, members of the Sikh community said repeated sacrilege cases continue to hurt religious sentiments despite repeated assurances by the government regarding strict laws and action.

They warned that such incidents would not be tolerated and urged authorities to ensure exemplary punishment for those involved.

Sukhbir Singh Badal condemns incident

SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal strongly condemned the incident and termed it deeply disturbing. He urged the Punjab Government and the police to identify the culprits at the earliest and take strict legal action.

As tension escalated in the locality, teams from Basti Bawa Khel police station and PCR units reached the spot to control the situation and calm the protesters.

Police officials collected the torn pages of Gutka Sahib with full religious respect and shifted them for further proceedings.

Authorities said the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness and that CCTV cameras installed in the surrounding area are being examined to identify those responsible and determine the exact sequence of events.
