Fatehgarh Sahib: A tragic case involving the alleged suicide of a woman gynecologist has taken a significant turn, with the police registering a case against her husband and in-laws on charges of dowry harassment.
The deceased, identified as Dr Ria, was residing in government quarters at the Civil Hospital in Fatehgarh Sahib. According to officials from the Fatehgarh Sahib police station, the incident occurred a few days ago, prompting an investigation into the circumstances leading to her death.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Prithviraj Singh stated that Ria had been married for the past three years. Her in-laws, who reside in Chandigarh, had allegedly been demanding dowry from her continuously. It has been further alleged that the family recently demanded an Innova car, which reportedly caused her severe mental stress.
The police suspect that the sustained pressure and harassment related to dowry demands may have driven the doctor to take the extreme step. Based on the findings, a case has been registered against the deceased’s husband, father-in-law and mother-in-law.
Further investigation is currently underway.
