Punjab: Harpal Cheema asks Kisan Morcha to reconsider decision on poll campaigning

Days after the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) announced early campaigning for the Punjab Assembly election 2022 would be considered anti-farmer, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Harpal Singh Cheema asked the farm union to reconsider its decision.

He asked if the opposition won't do rallies then how will it put forth its stand. Harpal Singh Cheema said that the Congress government has been doing rallies while the opposition has been sitting at home.

He further said that the conversation between farm unions and the state parties should continue.

Therefore, he asked Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) to reconsider its decision on poll campaigning.

Cheema alleged that the Congress government is backstabbing farmers and that it has been trying to sabotage the months-long farmers' protest.

Meanwhile, he said that Aam Aadmi Party will organise small programs instead of huge ones. He added that Punjab Assembly elections are almost here and parties have to work accordingly.

Kisan Morcha stated that the early campaigning would be considered as anti-farmer as it could divert the attention from their agitation.

It was announced after a meeting with the representatives of all the parties, except the BJP.
