Punjab Roadways contractual staff call off gherao of Siswan farm house

Punbus Roadways and PUNBUS Strike: Punjab Roadways' contractual staff have canceled the program of the gherao of Siswan farmhouse as Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has called the meeting with the Punbus/Roadways Contractual employees Union on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at 11 am at CM House.

Seeking regularisation of their jobs, nearly 8,200 contractual employees of the PRTC, Punjab Roadways and the Punbus on Monday went on a strike for an indefinite period.

Therefore, the bus services have been largely affected in different parts of the state, causing inconvenience to the general public. As many as 80 percent of buses remained off the road.

Besides regularisation of their services, the union has also been demanding stringent measures to check the transport mafia, streamlining of the daily roaster, implementation of equal work and equal salary, and to stop harassment of employees.

Currently, the Punjab government has been facing a series of protests after the implementation of the 6th pay commission in the state.

Other than Punjab roadways workers but also doctors, government employees, and contractual teachers have been protesting against the Punjab government led by Captain Amarinder Singh for not fulfilling the promises that it made in 2017.
