PTC News Desk: In a significant development in the murder case Punjabi influencer and makeup artist Madhu Sandhu, Punjab Police have arrested the main accused, Jobanpreet from Mumbai.
The operation was carried out by the Jalandhar Counter Intelligence team with the assistance of the Mumbai Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).
Police recovered three pistols, five magazines and 11 cartridges from the accused. Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav confirmed the arrest through a social media post.
Madhu Sandhu was murdered in Amritsar on October 3. He had gone to a car-washing centre on Loharka Road to collect his vehicle when two unidentified motorcycle-borne attackers shot him in the chest at close range. He sustained serious injuries and died while being taken to the hospital.
Sharing details of the operation on his X account, DGP Gaurav Yadav said the preliminary investigation suggested that Jobanpreet was working on the instructions of handlers based abroad. He is accused of playing a key role in supplying weapons to the shooters, arranging funds for criminal activities and providing other logistical support.
Investigators have also linked the accused to three separate shooting incidents in Tarn Taran district allegedly involving extortion demands. Police are currently investigating his specific role in these cases.
The police are working to identify other people connected to the network and determine the full extent of the gang's activities. Investigators are also tracing the sources of the weapons and funds, along with communications between the accused and his alleged handlers based abroad.
According to DGP Gaurav Yadav, Punjab Police are continuing their efforts to dismantle organised crime and gangster networks. The police said their campaign to bring criminals to justice and maintain peace and security in the state would continue.
