Sri Akal Takht Sahib summons 15 AAP MLAs on October 15 over Giaspura's objectionable remarks

PTC News Desk: The Akal Takht Secretariat has summoned 15 Aam Aadmi Party MLAs and constituency in-charges to appear on October 15 and submit an explanation regarding its MLA from Payal Manwinder Singh Giaspura's objectionable remarks against Akal Takht acting jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, after being denied entry to the Takht secretariat.

The AAP delegation visited the Akal Takht Secretariat to submit a memorandum seeking action against Union Home Minister Amit Shah over the entry of Delhi Police personnel into Gurdwara Bangla Sahib in New Delhi on October 10.

Hours after the meeting, the jathedar summoned the entire delegation, excluding Giaspura, to appear on October 15 for failing to clarify the situation to the media regarding his controversial remarks.

Those summoned include MLAs Gurdeep Singh Randhawa (Dera Baba Nanak), Baljinder Kaur (Talwandi Sabo), Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal (Ajnala), Sarwan Singh Dhun (Khem Karan), Jeevanjot Kaur (Amritsar East), Manjinder Singh (Khadoor Sahib), Kulwant Singh (Mehal Kalan), Inderbir Singh Nijjar (Amritsar South), Dalbir Singh (Baba Bakala), Harmeet Singh (Tarn Taran), Jasvir Singh (Urmur) and Karamvir Singh (Dasuya), along with constituency in-charges Sonia Mann (Rajasansi), Gur Iqbal Singh (Qadian) and Joban Singh (Fatehgarh Churian).

A delegation of 12 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs, led by Amritsar South MLA and Chief Khalsa Diwan president Inderbir Singh Nijjar, visited the secretariat to meet the jathedar and submit a memorandum seeking strict action against Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The delegation sought action over the October 10 incident in which Delhi Police personnel allegedly entered Gurdwara Bangla Sahib. All members of the delegation, except MLA Giaspura, were allowed to enter the secretariat. Giaspura was reportedly denied entry because of his alleged past objectionable remarks about the jathedar and Sikh institutions.

Angered by the decision, Giaspura told reporters outside the secretariat that he had been denied entry because of his Dalit identity. His statement went viral after being broadcast by a news channel.

Later, Takht media adviser Jaskaran Singh clarified that Giaspura was denied entry because of his previous remarks, not his caste identity.
