Chhath Puja 2023: Indian Railways notify 283 special trains for comfortable travel, check details

Chhath Puja 2023: Amid huge rush of passengers and to ensure safety and comfortable travel of all the travellers in the ongoing festive season of Chhath Puja 2023, Indian Railways is all geared up to run 4480 trips of 283 special trains till Chhath Puja this year for the convenience of rail travellers and to clear the extra rush of passengers. 


Chhath Puja Special Trains: Routes

Special Trains have been planned to connect major destinations across the country on railway routes like: 

Delhi- Patna, 

Delhi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, 

Danapur-Saharsa, 

Danapur- Bengaluru, 

Ambala-Saharsa, 

Muzaffarpur-Yesvantpur, 

Puri-Patna, 

Okha-Naharlagun, 

Sealdah-New Jalpaiguri, 

Kochuveli-Bengaluru, 

Benaras- Mumbai, 

Howrah-Raxaul 


Meanwhile, crowd-control measures by forming queues at the terminus stations under the supervision of RPF staff for orderly entry of passengers in unreserved coaches are being ensured.

Chhath Puja Special Trains: Other Measures 

•  To ensure the security of passengers, Indian Railways have deployed Additional RPF personnel at major stations. 

•  Officers are deployed on emergency duty at major stations to ensure the smooth running of trains

•  To ensure the smooth functioning of trains, staff is deployed in various sections to attend to any disruption of train service on priority. 

•  Measures have been taken for frequent and timely announcements of the arrival and departure of trains with platform numbers.

•  Medical Teams are available at major stations on call. Ambulance with paramedical team is also available.

•  Security and Vigilance Department staff deployed to monitor is any malpractice take place during Yatra. 


•  Instructions for maintaining cleanliness at waiting halls, retiring rooms, platforms in particular, and at stations in general have been given by Zonal Headquarters

Notably, Chhath Puja is dedicated to Sun God 'Surya'. It is celebrated on the sixth day of 'Kartik Shukla' or six days after the festival of Diwali.

Devotees worship Sun God and Goddess Chhathi during Chhath Puja. The festival is celebrated with great pomp and show in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh in northern India.
