Chandigarh, April 23: Punjab Police has urged people to maintain peace and refrain from sharing any fake news after the arrest of 'Waris Punjab De' chief Amritpal Singh in Moga on Sunday. In a tweet, the police said details about the arrest will be shared and asked people to verify any news before sharing.

Amritpal had been absconding since March 18, when a massive crackdown was launched against him and his associates in Punjab. This came almost three weeks after Amritpal's supporters stormed Ajnala police station in Amritsar on February 23, demanding the release of one of his aides, Lovepreet Toofan. In response, the police had issued a lookout circular (LOC) and non-bailable warrant (NBW) against the 'Waris Punjab De' chief.
