Himachal Pradesh: Drone captures mass devastation in flood-hit Manali; see video

Chandigarh, July 13: The recent heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh have resulted in extensive damage across the region. The monsoon downpour has not only caused loss of life and property but has also left a trail of destruction visible in a disheartening drone video. The footage showcases the ruined infrastructure and the Beas river, which has changed its course, sweeping away everything in its path.

Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh expressed concern over the situation, stating that over 10,000 tourists are currently stranded in Kasol and Tirthan Valley due to road damage. Efforts are being made to assist these stranded tourists by arranging transportation through jeeps and HRTC buses from areas where the roads are still accessible.

In a massive evacuation operation, more than 25,000 people, including over 3,000 stranded in Kasol and its surroundings, have been successfully evacuated from Kullu and Manali. Additionally, 52 schoolchildren trapped in Sissu, Lahaul, and 100 trekkers stranded in various locations, including Kinnaur district, have also been rescued.

Despite the challenging circumstances, some progress has been made in transportation. About 300 vehicles managed to cross the Atal Tunnel in Rohtang, and reports indicate that 6,552 vehicles have successfully traveled from Kullu towards Chandigarh as of 4 pm on Wednesday. The authorities continue to work diligently to ensure the safety and well-being of the affected individuals and restore normalcy in the affected areas.
